Alastair McKean Disability Sport
After retiring from International Sport after the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games Alastair Mckean (32) from Canterbury in Kent has decided to venture back into competitive sport in the form of Paratriathlon. This new version of triathlon for those with disabilities will be making its debut at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
Former world rowing champion and Paralympic medallist, Alastair has competed at several able bodied and ParaTri events this year with his greatest success so far coming at the 2011 National Championships in Nottingham where, against seasoned British triathlets, he came 2nd in his class and 6th overall.
If selected by British Triathlon, Alastair will be competing at the 2011 Hyde Park International Paratriathlon against the world’s best triathletes in the Tri4 class.
