On the 3rd December Cyclopark opened its doors to Clubs who were desperate to ride the circuit, tame the trails, run the track, and test the ramp!
Attendance was expected at 100 people and on closing of entries saw over 300. The main hook for the event was Super Sprint Duathlon which was organised by Team Outrageous who said “We had a great response for our first Duathlon at Cyclopark, with 54 people racing on the day. The race comprised of two 2.5 kilometre runs (following an out-and-back course along the Weald Way) with a 6-lap 15 kilometre bike leg on the circuit in between.
Thanks to two solid runs and a really strong performance on the bike, Paul Durham comfortably won the men’s race in 46:22. Paul Mason recorded the two fastest runs of the day and took second over all. GB age group athlete Chris Butler took third place.
The ladies race was won by Carol Dickson-Fisher in 1:04:36. At the end of the bike leg she trailed eventual second place finisher Kerry Walker by over a minute, but a really strong second run saw Carol ease in to first place. Claire Buck completed the top three ladies.
