Cyclopark, Kent’s up and coming, exciting activity place, participated in BikeRadar Live 2010, the UK’s ultimate bike festival on the weekend of the 10th and 11th July at Brands Hatch in Kent. A weekend celebration of all things cycling, 2010’s event offered mountain bike skills coaching, a competition to set the fastest lap on the 1.9km Brands Hatch circuit, stunt displays and much more.
The Cyclopark project team was delighted to be involved in such a key event in the biking calendar. The aim of the innovative park is to bring first class cycling, running and extreme sports facilities to North Kent and be one of the leading multi sport centres in the South of England. When completed in 2012, Cyclopark will offer an exciting range of activities for everyone from the enthusiastic beginner right up to the seasoned professional.
BikeRadar Live 2010 provided the perfect opportunity to promote Cyclopark. The project stand at the event welcomed a range of cycling enthusiasts, offering them visual displays of design plans, as well as the always informative project team, on hand to discuss Cyclopark and cycling in Kent generally.
Cyclopark is managed by Kent County Council and the project forms part of the Kent Thameside Regeneration Partnership (KTRP). This public private partnership supports and champions the regeneration of Kent Thameside, a hub for innovation and one of the fastest growing areas in the UK covering the boroughs of Dartford and Gravesham and Ebbsfleet Valley. With a commitment to provide 25,000 new homes and 50,000 new jobs over the next two decades, KTRP will make Kent Thameside a distinct and vibrant destination.
Chris Down, Event Director at BikeRadar Live 2010, says; “Bike Radar Live is the UK’s ultimate bike festival, and the leading event for biking enthusiasts in the South East. Cyclopark will be the premier venue for cycling in the South East so our event was the perfect opportunity to promote such an innovative and ground breaking project. It was fascinating to visit the stand and find out more about everything the park will offer and I, for one, cannot wait to visit Cyclopark!”
Laurence Tricker, Cyclopark’s project manager, says; “With construction starting this autumn and only two years until completion it is vital that we spread the word about Cyclopark and its value as a unique and exciting local project. BikeRadar Live 2010 gave us the ideal opportunity to do this and it was great to spend time with other cycling enthusiasts who are as excited as the project team about the opening! The park fits perfectly within the massive regeneration of Kent Thameside and will support the positive change already going on in the area. It will not only be a centre of excellence for the cycling world, but also a ‘must see’ for visitors to North Kent.”
